This we are bringing you the top dog on the Volunteer side. Robert Vokurka is the 2008 APICS Chair.  He is the "Chairman of the Board". As we set up for Abe we would like you to ask questions that you might have for Robert at this meeting. Ask the questions, get the real answers.

Lean Instructor Training

A Survey

Contributed by Maryanne Ross

Our training sessions has now been officially announced by HQ for June 28 & 29 at the Hilton Philadelphia Airport.  Bill Kerber, one of the course authors, will be conducting the training  I'm hoping to get at least 20 instructors so we can split the costs and hold the tab down.  Bill Selepes is asking the hotel to include lunch and breaks each day, we'll be on our own for breakfast and dinner.

Complete Story Here.

Lean Instructor Training

The Mid Atlantic District is offering a Lean Instructor Training session in Pittsburgh, August 9-10, 2008, at the Radisson Hotel of Pittsburgh. www.radisson.com/monroevillepa

The APICS Lean Workshop Series is organized to enable participants to approach the lean transformation process systematically. Using scenarios from a fictitious company, Murphy’s Toys, participants are tasked with finding lean solutions to a myriad of challenges. The Murphy’s Toys model enables instructors to customize the material for organizations and industries. This instructor workshop will be led by one of the materials authors, Bill Kerber CFPIM. Mr.Kerber’s biography is Here.

Curriculum: Classroom sessions include:

  • Workshop 1: Introduction
  • Workshop 2: Lean Culture
  • Workshop 3: Value Stream Mapping
  • Workshop 4: Stability and Process Improvement
  • Workshop 5: Just-In-Time
  • Workshop 6: Measuring
  • Workshop 7: Sustaining

1) APICS is offering one free instructors guide per chapter, a $575 value, if the chapter conducts one Lean course before year end. That course must be held with at least 5 students that have purchased the Participants Guide at $325 to receive the instructor guide complimentary.

2) Monroeville Radisson room rate is $85 + 14% tax. The rate is available thru Friday July 18, 2008. Please call 800.333.3333 or 412.373.7300x50 for room reservations. ASK for the APICS Lean Instructor Training Group Rate.

3) The maximum training fee (which covers the instructor expenses and training room cost) is $285 based on 10 attendees. If more that ten students register the training fee will be recalculated and a lower assessment will be assigned to all attendees.

· Training fee includes free hospitality both Friday and Saturday evening and AM & PM Refreshment breaks during class.

4) Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be on your own. There is a large selection of restaurants within walking distance.

5) Monroeville was selected based on driving requirements, as the hotel is within 5 minutes of the PA turnpike/Monroeville Exit. If you are flying, there is a $32 one way airport shuttle to the Monroeville Radisson.

6) Please call or e-mail me, CJ Connelly, to register for class. My contact information is provided below.
